About
Westminster Council

Westminster is one of the most unique places in the country to live and work.

Around 211,500 people call the borough home, and each neighbourhood has its own character, challenges and strengths. From vibrant, diverse areas like Queen’s Park and Church Street to long established communities across Pimlico and Westbourne, the council works every day to support residents with services that genuinely make a difference.

We are responsible for delivering the things people rely on most: safe and well maintained homes, children’s services, adult social care, public health, neighbourhood safety, and support for families and local businesses. We also put major focus on community wellbeing, investing in cost of living support, neighbourhood improvements, and high quality care for children and adults alike.

If you join us, you’ll be contributing to a council that supports some of the most dynamic and diverse communities in the country.

The Vision and priorities

Our long term vision is simple but ambitious: to build a Fairer Westminster. This means putting residents at the heart of every decision we make and tackling the inequalities that affect daily life in the city.

A few of our key priorities include:

  • Fairer Communities

Where everyone feels welcome and safe, and anti social behaviour is tackled effectively.

  • Fairer Economy

Where local businesses thrive, residents can access good jobs and young people have pathways into work.

  • Fairer Housing

Where residents have safe, good quality homes and access to the support they need. We’ve built more than 300 new homes in recent years and continue to improve services after securing a C1 regulatory rating.

  • Fairer Environment

With a clear commitment to tackling the climate emergency, promoting sustainable travel and creating greener neighbourhoods.

Staff networks add to this culture by giving colleagues a real voice. Whether it’s the ABLE Network for staff with disabilities, the Global Majority Network, or Family Loop, these groups help shape policies, raise awareness and build community across the

In short: you’ll join a team that genuinely cares about inclusion and is always working to get better.
